New songs for November 28th, 2022
here they are:
"Noise in the Forest" by Ripe: On this sprightly, reggae-influenced track, Ripe continue to please their listeners with their upbeat music, just as they did on their previous single from earlier this year, "Settling." Their second single, "Noise in the Forest," in spite of its happy sound, actually came about initially from a bout of anger that their lead singer had. He regretted his actions immediately afterwards, as most people would in similar situations, but instead of merely apologizing, he took his frustration and turned it into song! Not every day you hear something like that, right?!
"The Drummer" by Red Hot Chili Peppers: As per usual, RHCP's latest album is packed full of hits! Three songs from said album already hit the alt, adult alt, and rock airwaves earlier this year, and as the end of the year approaches, Flea and the boys crank out yet another catchy number with "The Drummer." It is not necessarily RHCP's drummer who is being referenced in the song, but another rock drummer from days of yore, specifically, Phil Collins. It's just a guess here, as I really don't know the song too well at this point, but my guess comes from how RHCP intended an oddly Genesis-influenced sound on this track. It contains more keyboard playing than their usual material and has an almost prog-rock sound emanating from the keyboard. Additionally, even the structure of this song seems rather prog-rock-y as the chorus and verses seem radically different from one another (the song's bridge creates even more of an uneven yet somewhat appealing distribution of sound that is more typical of prog-rock than regular rock). The Genesis comparison can be further attributed here to how group member John Frusciante is a big fan of Genesis' keyboardist, Tony Banks, as unpredictable as that might seem from a group like RHCP.
