New songs for October 13th 2025

here they are: "Honeydew (No Light)" by Josh Ritter:  I don't think I've ever heard such a dark song by the normally calm Josh Ritter! This song is still relatively calm, but it's also minor key and somewhat shaky and intense in its mood, enough so to fit into a noir or detective show/movie! Those are not  common elements in Ritter's material! The recurring line about "dark days" leading to "dark nights" makes it clear that something is wrong here. There are even crackling electric guitars bubbling up from underneath the surface during the song's solo! Not sure what prompted all this darkness from Josh Ritter, but it's interesting, to say the least!  "The Bridge" by Bahamas:  It might not be summer anymore, but for a band who shares their name with a tropical island, everlasting summer is to be expected, in the best of ways! The mellow side of summer vibes come out on Bahamas' latest song, "The Bridge." Defi...

New songs for July 7th, 2025

here they are: "Best Guess" by Lucy Dacus:  This song may be a bit more synth-y than the indie-folk-rock we're used to from Lucy, but with her latest tune, "Best Guess," both the song and its video (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a90_cjTF770) carry powerful messages! The song is, in essence, a love song, but by no means an ordinary one! The message of this one is more than just an "I love you." It's more an "I love you because..." and the reasons she lists are both emotional and physical! She leans heavy into vulnerability vibes here in the best ways! "Clasping your necklace, zipping your dress/Hands on your waist, kissing your neck/I love your body, I love your mind/They will change, so will mine" are the open lyrics. What powerful opening lyrics! As someone who values the beauty and aesthetic of the human body, it means a lot to me to hear a song like this one! With many of the people in the song's video dressed in tank ...

New songs for the day after President's Day 2023

Day late, I realize, but better late than never, right? Here are three songs for this week you might wanna check out! "All I Really Wanna Do" by Devon Gilfillian: Not to be confused with the Bob Dylan song of the same name, "All I Really Wanna Do," the latest song from neo-soul musician, Devon Gilfillian, is an interesting one, both musically and lyrically. In terms of the song's musical aspects, it maintains a lot of the vintage soul sound that Devon has cultivated over the course of his career so far, sounding like an R & B song from roughly between the early and mid 1970's, even though it isn't from that era. It's lyrically that the song is really interesting, though. The song encourages people to just be themselves when it comes to pursuing romantic relationships, and the song's creative video (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vFMHcsHd1hk) takes it a step further with an animated version of Devon becoming attracted to a "babe-lien...
