New songs for March 11th, 2024

 here they are:

"All in Good Time" by Iron & Wine (featuring Fiona Apple):  Perhaps the first Iron & Wine song that focuses more on piano than guitar (at least initially), "All in Good Time" is an endearing, sweet duet between the folk-rock songsmith and the piano-based feminist alt-rocker. Though I've never known the two to have a romantic connection with one another, this does seem like a romance song. It seems to talk about how through thick and thin, Fiona and Sam (Iron & Wine) have survived it all and that they'll always be there for one another. How sweet!

"Keep Going" by Guster:  After four years, indie-folk-pop/rock sensations, Guster, have released yet another album with a lead single that focuses more on synth than guitar. Unlike the goofy tones of their previous single, "Overexcited," "Keep Going" goes in the more sweet, mellow path that Guster are known for. "Keep Going" is more of an atmospheric, ambient song, yet another new direction for Guster, but it still doesn't resonate with me like the first few albums they released.

"Love of a Girl" by The Avett Brothers:  Thus far, The Avett Brothers haven't attempted garage rock. This is where their latest song, "Love of a Girl," differs! The song is surprisingly similar to songs like "Are You Gonna Be My Girl?" by Jet, albeit with slightly more Southern rock influence. Again, another new direction for a band who has been around now for 10 plus years, but in this case, I'd say it works in their favor!

"Showtime" by Catfish and The Bottlemen:  The title of this song pretty much tells what it's about! "Showtime" is a song about how much the lead singer of Catfish and The Bottlemen enjoys performing on stage! The song has a vibrant energy to match with its fun subject matter. It's in the key of D, like most of CATB's material is, but it stands out among their other material for being more happy in its subject matter.
